I’ve been working at my store for many years and have met a wide variety of people, even made some amazing friends! I’ve also met some… less-than amazing people.

If you’ve worked at such a place and want to say, “yep, I’ve done that,” welcome! Perhaps you’re thinking of getting a job at a bodega or a gas station? Then c’mon in! Maybe you want to peek behind the curtain. “Snoop around,” I say!

One misconception is that it’s not a “real“ job. If you can be on your feet for eight hours a day while running around doing trashes, of which my store has just under two dozen; making the shelves look neat and tidy, stocking tobacco, brewing coffee and keeping an eye on the register, and more without getting tired, then you’re probably some kind of robot.
